Jefferson County Community Health Assessment Released

Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) in partnership with the Jefferson County Board of Health, Jefferson County Health Council and numerous community partners will release its health assessment, Healthy People, Healthy Places at a community event open to the public on May 23, 2013. The outdoor, rain or shine, event will take place at Jefferson High School’s new community garden at 2305 Pierce St in Edgewater, Colorado from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Anyone interested in attending, is encouraged to register. The Healthy People, Healthy Places community health assessment provides a comprehensive look at the overall health status of the County.

The data updates our residents about health issues that cause illness, injury, loss of quality of life, and death in Jefferson County. A Community Health Assessment (CHA) is the ongoing process of regular and systematic collection, assembly, analysis, and distribution of information on the health needs of the community.

By better understanding the needs of the community and focusing efforts, we can effectively improve the health of Jefferson County residents. “Healthy People, Healthy Places is the culmination of months of data collection and review that paints an overall picture of the health of our community” said Dr. Mark Johnson, M.D., M.P.H, Jefferson County Public Health’s medical director. “The data provided can be used to mobilize resources and plan for better ways to help improve our health.”

The Community Health Assessment is one of the initial steps in a larger process that is part of Healthy People Healthy Places, a collaboration of community organizations, government agencies and individuals committed to developing and implementing a Community Health Improvement Plan for Jefferson County, Colorado.

    Health Assessment Highlights:
