  • Individual Sewage Disposal System Use Permit Program

Every individual sewage disposal system, also known as Onsite Wastewater Treatment System, is a potential source of groundwater pollution. The ISDS or OWTS Use Permit Program will assure that it operates properly before being passed on to a new owner.

Prior to the sale of properties with onsite wastewater treatment (septic) systems, owners must have those systems inspected and obtain a Use Permit from the Department. This applies to systems that were installed more than 5 year prior to the sale date.

See our Environmental Health Services Forms and Applications page, ISDS Use Permit Program section, for all of the associated documents on individual sewage disposal systems.

You can also check out the Frequently Asked Questions pages on the ISDS Use Permit Program on our site.
