Colorado State Titling and Registration System Outage

Jefferson County will be forwarding vehicle title requests to the Colorado Department of Revenue for printing and mailing due to an outage on the state's titling system, but you can still visit the county’s Motor Vehicle Offices to process your renewal.

Maintenance was performed on the Colorado State Titling and Registration System (CSTARS) last weekend. These maintenance activities are requiring more time than originally estimated. CSTARS is anticipated to be back up and running by Monday, March 28, 2011.

The Department of Revenue and the Office of Information Technology are doing everything possible to ensure that this legacy system will be fixed and operational on Monday.

While the state system is unavailable, county offices can still perform license plate renewals. The online system, via the state website, for license plate renewals is anticipated to be available by Friday, March 25, 2011.

During the outage, county offices are not able to print vehicle titles, but the transaction can be performed and the title will be mailed to the vehicle owner.

For hours and locations of Jefferson County’s Motor Vehicle Offices, call 303-271-8100.
