    UPDATE: USA Pro Cycling Challenge Street Closure Change

    NOTICE: Due to early heavy traffic, Lariat Loop Road will now close at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27. Only foot traffic, bicyclists, and local residents in vehicles with identification will be allowed.

    The USA Pro Challenge race, which travels throughout Colorado, will take place in the Golden area on Sunday, August 28. Sunday’s stage will be Stage 6, the final day of the race. Riders will ride in and around downtown Golden, up Lariat Loop Road (AKA Lookout Mountain Road), through Wheat Ridge and into downtown Denver. The race will have a significant impact on area traffic that day.

    The stage begins at 10:45 a.m. in downtown Golden. Their route the riders will take is:

    North on Highway 93, east on 58th Avenue, south on Easley Road, west on 44th Avenue past Coors.
    Through downtown Golden, onto 19th Street, up the Lariat Loop.
    Descending along Highway 40 eastward. Heritage Road through the county government complex, then South Golden Road back to downtown Golden.
    32nd Avenue east to Crown Hill Park and on to Denver.
