Bike to Work Day celebrates commuters getting out of their cars and trying their bikes as an alternative way to commute. Over the last few years commuters have utilized many types of alternative modes on this day; for 2012 and future years the Bike to Work Day strategy group wanted to get back to the roots of the day and encourage commuters to ride their bikes. While the entire Bike to Work Day planning group wants to keep supporting all types of alternative transportation, they thought it was very important to maintain the original idea of this event, which is biking.
