Commercial fireworks displays canceled throughout Jefferson County

Jefferson County, Co. – On June 27, Jefferson County Sheriff Ted Mink moved forward with the decision to cancel all commercial fireworks displays scheduled for the Independence Day holiday throughout the county. This decision was based on several factors: extreme fire conditions, multiple fires burning statewide, limited resources to respond to a fire in Jeffco, and consultation with local fire protection districts.

Bandimere Speedway and the Rolling Hills Country Club led by example by canceling their fireworks displays prior to an official order by the Sheriff.

This official cancelation only affects commercial fireworks displays; other festivities in celebration of the holiday may continue to go on as planned. It is recommended that you check directly with the event you are planning to attend to obtain additional information regarding possible event cancelations.

Although this decision was difficult, and made with careful consideration to its public impact, the Jeffco Sheriff remains committed to protecting the lives and property of its citizens.
