The recent disastrous flood waters impacted many Jefferson County residents and businesses, damaging homes, tearing up roads, closing businesses and causing many people to be evacuated. Among the areas in unincorporated Jeffco that were hardest hit are Coal Creek Canyon, Upper Bear Creek Canyon and Leyden, and the commercial area in downtown Evergreen.Jefferson County Commissioners Donald Rosier, Faye Griffin and Casey Tighe are hosting a telephone town hall meeting next Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 7 to 8 p.m. to provide information and answer questions from residents in the hard-hit areas.See the Telephone Town Hall page to get more information on the format and the phone number to participate.
Calls will be placed to phone numbers of unincorporated residents inviting them to join the phone conversation. The commissioners and other subject matter experts will answer questions from callers during the hour-long telephone meeting. Callers will be able to ask questions relating to the progress the county is making towards reopening roads, rebuilding bridges and helping residents with the recovery. The commissioners had previously scheduled a telephone town hall meeting at this time to discuss the county budget. However, because of the severity and magnitude of the flooding, the commissioners feel that getting information out about the recovery efforts is urgent and therefore have postponed the 2014 budget discussion to a future date. The telephone town hall format allows callers to ask their questions and find the information they are seeking without having to drive to one meeting location. Any residents can participate and provide important feedback to their elected officials. Those who don't receive an invitation by telephone can still participate in the meeting by calling 877-229-8493 and entering PIN #110646 during the 7 o’clock hour on Sept. 25. For more information about the telephone town hall meeting, call Jefferson County Public Information at 303-271-8515 or go online to www.jeffco.us/townhall.
