Fees
The fee for obtaining a marriage license is $30.00, check or cash only. The license may be used immediately within the State of Colorado and is valid for 30 days from the date of issue. You may purchase your license at any of the county seats in Colorado.
Parental Consent
Legal age without parental consent is 18 for both persons. If under the age of 18 and over the age of 16, written and notarized consent signed by both parents (or parent having legal custody), or legal guardian is required. A Judicial Court Order from the court of jurisdiction is required of anyone under the age of 16.

Identification
No blood test is required. Legal identification for proof of age is required. This can be a driver's license, birth certificate (original or certified copy), military ID, passport, or State issued identification. Your place of birth, and names and addresses of both parents are requested.

Social Security Number Required
Per Colorado Revised Statute 14-14-113, social security numbers are required on the marriage license application. If an applicant does not have a social security number, an affidavit provided by the Clerk's office must be signed.

Apply in person
Both persons should be present to apply for the license. If this is not possible, one party must appear with a completed and notarized absentee affidavit as well as approved original identification for the absent party. The absentee affidavit may be obtained at any of the Motor Vehicle Branch Offices or the Recording Office in Golden. A couple already married to each other may obtain a marriage license by stating that they are married to each other. Applicants for a marriage license need not be Colorado residents. If divorced, the individual will need to know the date, place, and court where the final decree was granted.

Marriage SolemnizationMarriages may be solemnized by judges, retired judges, magistrates, Indian tribe officials and clergy, or by the couple themselves. The person solemnizing the marriage must forward the marriage certificate to the County Clerk and Recorder's office within sixty days after the marriage.
Prohibitions
Couples are prohibited from marrying when one of the parties is still married to another person. Also prohibited are marriages of brother and sister, uncle and niece, or aunt and nephew, whether the relationship is by half or whole blood. Same sex marriages are also prohibited.
Marriage Application Copy Request Form
Pursuant to CRS 24-72-204(3)(a)(XIX)(A), copies of marriage applications are to be made available only to either party of the marriage or an immediate family member. To obtain a Certified copy of a marriage application, please complete the form and have notarized. Cost is $2.25 per copy.
