Deputy Mark Bybee is a Jefferson County native who prior to working for the Sheriff's Office ran a family-owned industrial and commercial painting company. Mark worked for two years in Detentions then transferred to Patrol in 2008. While working in Patrol Mark worked as a crime scene technician and as an operator and instructor for the automated license plate reader. Deputy Carlin Hastie grew up in Jefferson County. Her father was a Reserve Deputy for 16 years, which piqued her interest in law enforcement. Carlin joined the Sheriff's Office in 1995 and transferred to Patrol in 1999. In addition to being a field training instructor, she was chosen to represent the Sheriff's Office at the 2002 Olympics as a law enforcement volunteer. Deputy Mark Barrick was born and raised in Pennsylvania. In 1994, Mark enlisted in the United States Air Force where he spent the next six years working as a Security Forces member and K-9 handler. In 2001, Mark joined the Sheriff’s Office and began his career in the Detentions Division. As a Detentions deputy, Mark was one of two certified Detention K-9 handlers and also was a member of the Detentions Special Operations Response Team (SORT). Later, Mark transferred to Patrol where he became a crime scene technician and a field training instructor. In April 2011 Mark transferred to the Recruiting Unit.
