Residents having medical conditions that may cause them to wander have additional help thanks to Colorado LifeTrak, a rapid-response program in which the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is participating. The project is a partnership between law enforcement and the families of those suffering from Alzheimer's disease and related disorders and conditions, such as Down syndrome and autism.
A family member or caregiver of an Alzheimer's or autistic patient contacts the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office to enroll in Colorado LifeTrak.
Approximately 4.5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and related disorders – 60,000 of which live in Colorado.
