The Annual Courage Walk for Victims' Rights will be held April 27, 2013. Location TBD.
Each spring, victim advocates from the First Judicial District gather for the annual Courage Walk, which coincides with National Crime Victims' Rights Week.
National Crime Victims' Rights Week recognizes the devastating impact crime has on victims and communities. The Courage Walk is a time to honor the strength and courage of the survivors we have come to know in the aftermath of crime. It is also a time to speak in unison for victims' rights and services, today and in the future.
Read "Walking in Remembrance," an essay by the family of a Jeffco murder victim.
The 2013 event will be the 20th annual walk.
The walk is approximately one mile long and is wheelchair accessible. Dogs on leashes are welcome. If you have questions, please call 303-271-5339.
Donations are not required to participate; however, if you would like to help victims in our community, please send checks to Victim Outreach Information (VOI), P.O. Box 5173, Golden, CO 80401. Victim Outreach Information (VOI) is a nonprofit group that provides advocacy services to crime victims in small, local communities.
If you would like to become a volunteer victim advocate, please contact Susan Sylvester, sheriff's office victim services advocate, at 720-497-7249.
