Aggravated robbery at Verizon store in south Jeffco

Jefferson County, CO. – On December 29, 2013 at 3:55 p.m., the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from an employee at the Verizon store located at 8430 W. Cross Dr. reporting a robbery that had just occurred. The employee told the dispatcher that two Hispanic males ran from the store after stealing two iPhones from the floor display. Both floor models were “tethered” with wire, causing an audible alarm to go off when the wire was disconnected. Employees heard the alarm and tried to confront the suspects before they reached the front door. One of the suspects began spraying a chemical agent from a large canister directly at the employees. The suspects then ran from the store and fled the area in a black 4-door Honda sedan.

A total of 21 employees and customers were treated at the scene by paramedics for symptoms associated with exposure to a pepper spray substance.

    Suspect descriptions:
#1—Hispanic male, early 20’s, 5’9”, thin build, spiked black hair, wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans.
#2—Hispanic male, early 20’s, 5’11”, 150 lbs., wearing a black beanie hat, black jacket, red t-shirt and blue jeans.

Investigators are releasing photos from the store’s surveillance system in hopes of learning the suspect’s identities. Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 303-271-5612.
