Be fire-cautious this July 4th in Jefferson County

Jefferson County, CO. – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is reminding everyone to be fire-cautious this July 4th holiday weekend. There is currently no fire restrictions in unincorporated Jefferson County; however, people are encouraged to be vigilant as the danger of fire is always present in the high country.

Many people will continue to enjoy the mountains and parks through the remainder of the season and citizens should be reminded to use caution when starting and extinguishing campfires, disposing of lighted cigarettes, and other activities that involve the use of fire or sparks. Warm and windy days can quickly lower the fuel moisture content of trees and grasses, making them susceptible to ignition.

Have a happy and safe July 4th!
