JeffCo to Host Drug Take-Back Day

On Saturday, October 22, 2016, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office offers Drug Take-Back Day, an opportunity for residents to safely dispose of expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceuticals and other medications. These drugs are a potential supply source for illegal use and pose an unacceptable risk to public health and safety.
    Sheriff's representatives will be at the following drop-off locations from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on October 22:

Sheriff’s Office Headquarters – 200 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden
Conifer High School – 10441 County Road 73, Conifer
Dakota Ridge High School – 13399 W. Coal Mine Ave., Littleton (west parking lot)

Drug Take-Back Days are intended to raise national awareness of increasing pharmaceutical drug abuse while granting citizens a safe way to discard expired or unwanted drugs. The following applies to JeffCo’s program:
    • It is anonymous
    • Prescription and over-the-counter solid dosage medications (tablets and capsules) will be accepted
    • Intravenous solutions, injectables, needles, and oxygen containers will not be accepted
    • Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not included
    • Prescription medication should be removed from original containers and placed in plastic or Ziploc type bags prior to drop off.
