Community Meeting Regarding Sexually Violent Predator

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a community notification meeting on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, to discuss the residency of sexually violent predator Julian Andrew Reyes, age 57. The meeting will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Deer Creek Middle School, 9201 W Columbine Dr. in Littleton. The goal of the meeting is to educate the public and enhance public safety, but due to the content of the information that will be presented, it is not advisable for children to attend. Children under age 15 unaccompanied by an adult will not be permitted to attend the meeting.

Reyes was classified as a sexually violent predator by the Pueblo County District Court in 2008. He was convicted of 1st degree sexual assault in 1977, attempted 3rd degree sexual assault in 1985, and attempted unlawful sexual contact in 2008. His convictions have involved adult victims, both known and unknown to him. Reyes recently relocated to 7192 S. Johnson Street in Jefferson County.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may live. Unless court restrictions exist, sex offenders are constitutionally free to live where they choose. Sex offenders are required by law to notify law enforcement of their residence, and law enforcement is authorized to share that information with members of the affected communities. In the case of sexually violent predators, law enforcement must actively notify citizens. In addition to this press release, a notification flyer will be circulated at tonight’s meeting and elsewhere in the community.

Reyes has registered as a sex offender with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and is required to re-register with us quarterly while he resides in our jurisdiction. His picture and other relevant information are posted on the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Web site at www.jeffcosheriff.com.
