mundell patsyChief Patsy Mundell
Detention Services Division
 
Patsy Mundell joined the JCSO in 1986. After working as a deputy on patrol, and as an investigator specializing in crimes against children, she would go on to gain experience working in every division of the department. Mundell has held supervisory positions in Detentions, Patrol, Investigations and Support Services. She received specialized training in incident command and criminal investigations from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety, respectively.

Mundell was appointed chief of the Support Services Division in 2002, making her the highest-ranking woman in the history of the Sheriff's Office. Today, Mundell serves as chief of the Detention Services Division, overseeing operations for the Jefferson County jail, one of the largest detention facilities in Colorado.

Mundell has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and public safety from Metropolitan State College. In 2005 she graduated from the Police Executive Research Forum at the Senior Management Institute of Policing at Boston University.  She is active in the community, volunteering as a youth basketball coach and softball coach.

Support Services Division

Jeff Shrader began his career with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in 1984 as a deputy assigned to the county jail. As the agency's first administrative sergeant, Shrader coordinated a massive statewide forum to address juvenile violence, in addition to creating the department's first Citizens' Advisory Council and Citizens' Academy. Shrader attended the FBI National Academy as a sergeant, and would go on to hold leadership roles throughout the Sheriff's Office.

As chief, Shrader has overseen operations for all aspects of the department, including Patrol, Investigation, Detentions and Support Services. He spearheaded the decentralization and SMART Jeffco (CompStat) processes. He is a CALEA assessor and a certified Dale Carnegie Training instructor, and serves on the boards of several regional government services. Shrader has a bachelor's degree in human resource management from Colorado Christian College and has completed coursework toward his MBA.

Patrol Division

Dan Gard began his career at the Sheriff's Office in 1986 as a patrol deputy.  In that role he worked as a crime scene technician and field training instructor.  After his promotion to sergeant he was assigned to the Accreditation Unit, and later ran the law enforcement academy.

As lieutenant, he served as precinct commander for the mountain precinct in Evergreen, and managed the traffic, SRO, directed operations and crime analysis functions.

He recently served as captain of the Criminal Investigation Division, where he developed key programs to help identify specific crime trends and reduce illegal activity.

Gard has a bachelor's degree in human resource management from Colorado Christian University.  He is a graduate of both Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command and the Senior Management Institute of Policing through the Police Executive Research Forum.


pocsik scott chiefChief Scott Pocsik
Criminal Investigation Division

Scott Pocsik joined the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in 1986 as a patrol deputy.  He joined the K-9 Unit in 1989 and served for eight years alongside K-9s Remco and Barron.  In 1997 he was promoted to sergeant and served in Patrol and Internal Affairs. 

In his career, Pocsik has served in a variety of leadership roles, specializing in Patrol and special unit functions.  He served as precinct commander for the agency’s mountain precinct in Evergreen, and oversaw special units including K-9, SWAT, Traffic, DOU, Crime Analysis and School Resource Officers, as well as the field training program.   In 2009 he was named chief of the Criminal Investigation Division. 

Pocsik has a bachelor’s degree in applied management from National American University. In 2007 he graduated from the Police Executive Research Forum at the Senior Management Institute of Policing at Boston University.  He is a recipient of the agency's Medal for Distinguished Service.
