Deputy Hugs
Studies have shown that no single object calms a troubled child as quickly as a teddy bear. "Deputy HUGS" bears work with the Victim Services Unit, comforting frightened young victims of crisis or crime.
The program, which began in 1991, works as follows: For a donation of $20, you can adopt "Deputy HUGS" for yourself or your child. At the same time, your donation will adopt a "Deputy HUGS" for a child in need.
The "Deputy HUGS" bear given to the victim will wear a T-shirt different from your bear. The shirt will read:

Deputies carry the bears in their patrol cars and give them to troubled children whenever appropriate.
