CHP - Concealed Handgun Permit Information
Rights and Responsibilities:
Your right to own, possess, and use firearms includes the responsibility to know how to safely and legally use them.
Note: Public interest for concealed handgun permits has surged in recent months. Please be assured that we are diligently working to reduce fingerprint wait times; however, some applicants have been experiencing extended wait periods up to two hours long. We appreciate your patience and understanding when waiting is necessary. Our current average turnaround time for issuing permits is 10-12 weeks from date application is made.
All concealed handgun permit applications accepted:
Monday - Friday (except holidays) 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
at 200 Jefferson County Parkway, Golden, CO - Records Unit
Permit pickup ONLY (those approved and contacted to come in):
Monday - Friday (except holidays) 8 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Incomplete packets will not be accepted.
A "COPY" of your original training certificate is required at time of application.
Fees are non-refundable.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age at time of application.
JCSO does not renew "other agency" concealed handgun permits.
If you have moved to Jefferson County and have an existing permit
from another agency, you may renew this permit with the previous
issuing agency or you may apply as a NEW applicant with JCSO.

with your current permit card, and a new card will be issued in exchange for the old one)

(Per C.R.S. 18-12-210 (1) & (2) - you must notify JCSO within 3 business days)
(Form must be completed and notarized - bring notarized form to JCSO Records,
along with your valid Colorado driver's license, and a new card will be issued)
Reciprocity - list of states who recognize Colorado permits and visa versa
Supplementary Form (pdf) - must complete if you answer "yes" to #14 on application
