  • Roadside Memorial Signs

    Criteria

Jefferson County receives citizen requests to erect memorial signs in honor of victims of fatal crashes. The county will install such signage based on the following criteria:

    • Memorial signs may be erected to commemorate victims of fatal crashes occurring after May 20, 2004.
    • The sign must be requested by the victim’s immediate family or sponsor with the consent of the victim’s family.
    • The county will install and maintain the sign for six years. After this time, the sign will be removed and donated to the victim’s family or sponsor.
    • Memorial signs will not be erected for deceased drivers involved in fatal crashes whose toxicology reports show a violation of Colorado DUI laws, unless the immediate family of any other victim(s) killed in the crash grant permission for the sign.
