    About the Project

Jefferson County is updating its ADA Transition Plan to improve accessibility on pedestrian facilities within unincorporated Jefferson County. This  Map Adobe Reader is required for viewing this document shows areas within unincorporated Jefferson County.

    This process involves several steps:

    • A self-evaluation conducted by County staff to inventory existing pedestrian facilities and traffic signals for compliance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
    • Public outreach using a survey tool to document where members of the public know about and are most affected by lack of accessible pedestrian facilities
    • Public open houses (dates of these open houses are yet to be determined) to exhibit findings of inventory efforts and prioritize needed improvements.

The findings of these efforts will provide the framework for updating the County’s ADA Transition Plan for improvements in county maintained rights-of-way. Due to the limited funding available, it may take many years for the County to make all desired improvements; however this Transition Plan will create a system of prioritizing improvements where they are most needed.

    We’re looking for your input

We want to know about any barriers that you’ve encountered along county-maintained roads and sidewalks. Please take a moment to fill out our survey Survey Icon.  In addition to this survey, there will be future opportunities to interact with the project team.

For questions about the ADA Transition Plan update, please contact Yelena Onnen by email or at 303-271-8497.
