Mountain Pine Beetle - Prevention
Ways to Help Prevent MPB Infestation
1. Remove and treat infested trees |
2. Remove dwarf mistletoe from your trees since it weakens them and makes them more susceptible to MPB attack. Consult with a professional tree service if you need assistance. |

3. Thin your forest to keep it healthy.
This allows your trees to grow stronger because they do not have to compete as much for resources.
Consult with the Colorado State Forest Service (303)279-9757, or a professional forester for assistance in developing a forest management plan for your property.

4. Treat high value trees to prevent infestation.
Using Carbaryl (Sevin) or permethrin (Astro) based pesticides on a yearly basis can help prevent infestation of individual trees (May 1st through July 15th).
Always read and follow label directions. Consult with a licensed pest control professional if you would prefer not to do the work yourself. |
